Botox/Dysport

Botox/Dysport

Dysport and Botox Cosmetic are very popular injections used to weaken the muscles that cause wrinkles.

When you laugh, smile, frown, or look puzzled, you contract the muscles of your face. Over time, these contractions produce permanent furrows and deep wrinkles in the skin, especially around the eyes, mouth, between the eyebrows, and on the forehead. These lines can make you look older, sad, angry, or tired. Injections can prevent you from deepening these lines as you create your natural facial expressions. They can also erase marks of aging, leaving you looking younger and more refreshed.

Dysport and Botox Cosmetic are very popular injections used to weaken the muscles that cause wrinkles, such as frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet around the corners of the eyes, and drooping at the corner of the mouth. A series of tiny injections will give you a rejuvenated look by smoothing your lines and wrinkles. The medication relaxes the muscles in the face that cause the wrinkles.

The treatment generally takes 10-20 minutes and results generally last 3-6 months. In order to maintain your results, injections will need to be repeated as muscle movement and expressions return. After several treatments, the results may be prolonged.

You will have little to no downtime following the injections and minimal discomfort. Typically, there is no bruising or swelling with the injections and you may return to work and resume your normal activities that same day. You will see your wrinkles beginning to fade away within 24 hours, with continued improvement over the next 5-14 days.

Good candidates for injections may be anyone looking to enhance their appearance by eliminating unwanted lines or wrinkles. It is also important that patients seeking treatment with injections are in good physical health, are not pregnant or nursing, and do not have a neuromuscular disorder.

Men and women considering treatment should have realistic expectations of what the procedure can do. You should discuss your desired results with your injector to ensure that your goals can be achieved.

Even though these injections are not a surgical procedure, it is very important to choose a highly experienced and qualified injector. Injectors that are less familiar with the techniques could leave you looking “frozen” or “surprised”.
